Beautiful Illustrations by Mike Dutton Posted: 26 Nov 2010 04:07 AM PST Mike Dutton has been a writer/illustrator most of his life. He completed his first book when he was seven, a stapled mass of dot-matrix printer paper filled with leaping dinosaurs. He once drew the entire Sunday Funnies during class, but none of the jokes were funny. In fact, his teacher found them to be quite rude and his parents were asked to pay a visit. Since then, Mike has gone on to make children's storybook illustrations, comics, coloring books, magazine articles, landscape paintings, video game art, and quite possibly a portrait of your dog. That's exactly what the Astrum Meera does: puts you in a world where technology and design walked a long path and found perfect balance. <!--break--> The Astrum Meera is a proposed concept car possessing several distinctive features that play a unique role in safety, sustainability, and practical design. The exhaust of the car has built-in sensors that track the level of CO2 emmisions and alert the driver when it exceeds the normal range. The wheel rims work through magnetic levitation, like train wheels, making the car lighter and faster. The side mirrors are hidden when parked and roll out of the body once the engine starts. The mirrors have a built-in camera system that allows the driver to clearly see outside from inside the vehicle without opening windows in the rain or turning your head around. Beautiful Houses: FYF Residence in Argentina Posted: 25 Nov 2010 06:01 PM PST The idea in this series is to show beautiful and inspiring houses. Houses that are remarkable for its design, elegance, elements, concept or simply because they are beautiful. So if you like architecture, interior design and beautifully designed houses, you are at the right spot. Check out this week beautiful house and stay tuned for more... This week we present you the modern FYF residence. The FYF residence is a project by PATTERNS, a firm with a very particular style that describe its work as an attempt to deal with architectural organizations capable of acquiring a rather unseen degree of material performance. The FYF Residence is located in Rosario, Argentina. FYF Residence can be described as an attempt to deal with the generic and undifferentiated flatness of the landscape. The project was conceived as a monolithic solid, a monochrome form only punctuated by subtle inflections that establish a complex physical relationship among the different spaces while maintaining a sense of identity and privacy between them. Specifically, a supple concrete shell constitutes the body of the house. Problematic transitions are registered into the shell through folds and bends. The modern look of this house really got my attention. I loved the geometrical shapes and the mix of materials. The white walls contrasting with dark wood, concrete and glass gave the house an unique style.
