| Sticker Robot Giveaway/Design Contest Posted: 15 Dec 2010 06:29 AM PST Hey everyone! Just in case you didn't have enough to do this holiday season, we thought we'd throw a random (yet fun) sticker design contest at you. We've teamed up with our friends over at Stickerobot.com to offer a quick Christmas sticker design contest...So get to work fast and you might just nab yourself an extra present this year!
Prompt:You should pull your design inspiration for this contest from the year 2010. You have full creative freedom within that prompt and we will judge your design based on aesthetic (how awesome it looks) and clarity of concept (if we can understand what the heck you're referencing). In other words, come up with something clever which references a well-known person/event/meme or whatever, from 2010. The more recognizable and clever the better :) The design can be full color, CMYK. The dimensions for the sticker are 3" x 3" square and must be at least 300dpi. Please grab the 3" X 3" square template from the Sticker Robot website here ----> http://stickerobot.com/templates/ When entering your design, save it as a 72 dpi Jpeg 500 X 500 pixels. The deadline is Dec 20th, 2010 (That's this coming Monday). Please send all submissions to abduzeedo@abduzeedo.com with "Sticker Design Contest" in the subject line. You can enter up to ten designs. The winning entries will be announced here on Christmas Eve and will also (maybe not the same day) be posted on Stickerobot as well. Winners will receive the following:1st place: 1000 stickers of the artist's winning design
Also, check out this flattering sticker design they whipped up. Maybe if you bug them about it they'll make a few :)

| Amazing Dalian Child School in China Posted: 15 Dec 2010 02:48 AM PST This is a really special project. A school for children developed with an amazing care both in aesthetic appeal as the internal planning, and of course the main function that deserves our full attention, offering to the childrens a unique learning and consequently grow as individuals.<!--break--> Located in China, Dalian is a school project by Debbas Architecture. In this project what attracted our attention is mainly is the arrangement of buildings, the architects have created several blocks rotated thinking of a better use of solar in all the environments. In this program we have spaces such as classrooms, sleeping rooms, bathrooms with showers, kitchen and dining area, ballet and music rooms, reading area and, of course, an outdoor area with a large playground for kids. They deserve it!

| Designers Against Child Slavery Posted: 14 Dec 2010 07:17 PM PST Designers Against Child Slavery is a Design Collective that enables creatives from all over the world to rise up against the sex trade. We want to see how effective artists can be when they start breaking the boundaries of culture, race, religion, and backgrounds to unite for a just cause, and use their unique styles and talents to give a voice to the voiceless.Over the past few decades, sex trafficking has reached epidemic proportions. Its estimated that one third of the worlds sex trafficking takes place in Asia, and 30% of the victims are children. Hundreds of thousands of girls and boys are believed to be enslaved in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and other countries in an underground industry that inflicts horrible emotional and physical pain to these young lives. There are an estimated 2 million children enslaved worldwide, with approximately 225,000 women and children being trafficked out of South East Asia annually. The average age of the victims is between 10 and 18 years old, but children have been found as young as 5 years old. These victims are often required to have sex with as many as 15 men a day. If they refuse they are threatened, beaten, and starved. It is estimated that 50-90% of children rescued from brothels in parts of Southeast Asia are infected with HIV. Although many people are removed forcibly from their families for the purpose of trafficking, many others go willingly, choosing to believe their traffickers promise of a better life. This deceit is all too common. A Cambodian study found that 85 percent of victims were trafficked by someone close to them, someone from within the family, a friend, neighbor or boyfriend. There are many reasons for the dramatic increase in the trafficking of women and children such as globalization, domestic servitude, cheap labor, marriage, adoption, prostitution, child pornography including the more recent practice of live internet child abuse, and child sex tourism. Weak law enforcement and lack of community awareness as well as the lure of easy money have helped to make this industry boom. Here are some of the pieces that great-hearted artist made for the project. For more of these works and more information about this collective you may visit DACS website at http://www.dacsunited.com. You should really take a look at these and support the cause. Children all over the world will thank you.
